Cercospora is generally more severe than it has been over the past 10 years
- Daily infection values (DIV's) levels have been high
- Infection occurred earlier this year
- Disease levels are higher in the south and lessen as you go north
- Most fields have some disease and some fields are "pretty hot"
Here are some tips for the rest of the year:
- Apply Headline 30 to 45 days before harvest for plant health and to reduce frost susceptibility
- Closely monitor your fields
- Don't stretch intervals between fungicide applications
- Watch the infection values
- Don't let the disease build up in September
- Use as many sprays as necessary to protect the crop
- Watch the pre-harvest intervals (PHI's)
